The Culture Rising Dance Initiative is a transformative project created by the Kofago Dance Ensemble in partnership with Lehman College. This initiative is designed to uplift and inspire young people from underprivileged African American, Caribbean, African, and Latino communities in the Bronx, New York.

Kofago founder Kevin McEwen sat down with Dr. Bob Lee on BronxNet's OPEN programming. They discussed Kofago's upcoming partnership with Lehman College and the inaugural Culture Rising dance conference taking place August 22nd and 23rd. This project is a partnership between Kofago, Lehman College and the Bronx Art Council, which will allow all Bronx residents and CUNY resgistered students to attend the event for free!

Kofago kicked off the Kwanzaa season with an electrifying performance on Fox 5 New York’s morning news segment on December 26, 2024. Showcasing the vibrant traditions of African Diasporic dance, the performance embodied the spirit of Umoja (Unity), the first principle of Kwanzaa. This captivating moment served as the perfect introduction to Kwanzaa festivities, celebrating culture, community, and connection across the African Diaspora.
